Shaznay Lewis - Songwriter for the band All Saints
Shaznay Lewis was the co-founder of the British Pop Group named, All Saints. Melanie and Shaznay Lewis started off their career together by doing playback singing at Sarm West Studios. They named their band so as the street where they met is called All Saints. The original 3rd member of the group in the beginning was Simone Rainford. He used to write songs together with Shaznay Lewis and had an exceptional voice. Though the band was the brain-child of Melanie but both of them worked really hard to see the band where they had dreamed about. This popular girl-band comprising of four girls from Britain and Canada, won a BRIT award and one MTV Music award in MTV Music Awards. Their fan base was gigantic and was not limited to just teenage but even beyond that. This musical band was said to an icon for the teenage girls in 1990’s.
After a conflict with Melanie Rainford left, Shaznay Lewis decided to recruit two female singers and asked Blatt’s father to do the auditions. At last, they ended up having two melodious voices, and sexy in this British Pop Group and was a great attraction for the audience. Appleton sisters had a great love for British Hip-hop music and were good songs writers besides being exceptional singers. Their first song, I Know Where it’s at” appeared in the top ten and proved to be a huge hit. This was their first song in the album as well. Shaznay Lewis was the main talent behind All Saints’ success as she was responsible for writing most of the songs for the band. She also won an Ivor Novello award for the best song writing.
She was the only member who had to leave the group due to conflicts between the other members. Shaznay Lewis tried to solve the conflicts but the rage amongst the members was mounting as the external pressure was so. This band broke into three and Melanie and Shaznay went solo while Appleton sisters continued to work together.
Shaznay Lewis released her first solo, Never Felt like This Before, in the year 2004. It reached on #8 and was a hit amongst the UK top charts. After leaving this British Pop Group, she also showed up in several movies. She was offered a come back in the band but she refused it. While Melanie and Appleton sisters reunited.
Media scrutinizers together with the disloyalty of close friends marked the sunset of their fame. Their fan base was hurt and the media stated that they set an awful example by having boyfriends and Natalie’s teen marriage. However, Shaznay Lewis had make people consider her as the backbone of the girl Group.
