All Saints - Melanie Blatt in the Girl Group

Melanie Blatt was the co-founder of very popular girl-band of 1990's, together with Shaznay Lewis. This band named All Saints 1.9.7.5., after they considered the name of the street they met and their years of birth. Melanie Blatt and Shaznay had started off with their career by doing playback singing at Sarm West Studios. Two of their albums gained a title of Platinum while the other was appreciated to the gold. This girl-band comprising of four girls from Britain and Canada, won a BRIT award and one MTV Music awards as well. Their target audience was not limited to just teenage but even beyond that however Melanie Blatt worshipped by the teenage girls. Four girls among whom were two Appleton sisters, Shaznay Lewis and Melanie Blatt came up with their first top of the charts single "I know where it's at". Before Appleton sisters joined All Saints the original third member was Simone Rainford together with whom they made their first public appearance at Notting Hill Carnival. Due to conflicts between Melanie and Rainford about the musical orientation of the band, Rainford left the band in 1995 and with that ZTT dropped their recordings. Now the issue was to find a replacement of Rainford.

In search of a song writer, Blatt's father met Nichole Appleton who happened to be one of Blatt's childhood acquaintances. Finally Nichole and Natalie joined the group who wrote and sung the songs with the band. Together with Melanie Blatt the Girl Group released three albums in all; All Saints, Saints and Sinners and All Hits. The first two albums became a platinum hit while the other one was certified gold. These albums comprised of a list of songs which were released previously as singles and had been a great hits. Melanie Blatt appeared in many public performances throughout 1995 – 2000.

As stated earlier, Melanie Blatt was an authoritative minded girl and had he first conflict with Simone Rainford. This leading member of the Girl Group then came into the lime light of media scrutinizers. Scandals started to pop out against them almost for everything they did. Worst of all was her being criticized over becoming pregnant by her boyfriend, Stuart Zender of the band Jamiroquai. They say that she had set a very ghastly example for the girls who admire her and her band. Melanie Blatt was also criticized for the male violence of her band members. Among them was Nichole's affair and Natalie's teen-marriage that ended up in a divorce.

She renounced the band after giving birth to a daughter and realized that their peace depended upon not band members in this Girl Group but the outsiders as their closest friends ditched them marking the sunset of their fame. In 2001 she released her first solo, "TwentyFourSeven", second, "Do Me Wrong" and the third one was "See Me". These songs made their ways to top charts. Solo album by Melanie Blatt was already shelved when All Saints reunited in 2006.
